There are the rules, so away we go!
- One of my most prized possessions is my paper mache rabbit...that looks like a cat. Her name is Bubbles and she is white with yellow stripes and pipecleaner whiskers. I made her when I was in the first grade and I love her to pieces. She used to sit on a chair in my living room (so she could watch TV) but someone from my knitting group teased me about her so now she resides in the bedroom. She's worn, fading and fragile but she is VERY important to me.
- I really hate cleaning floors and bathrooms. When I was a kid, my cleaning jobs were more vaccuuming and dusting, floors and bathrooms were my brother's job. Now I try to get out of doing them whenever I can. But I did clean the floors for my birthday party - that I will gladly vouch for.
- I've never mowed the lawn. Again, my outdoor chores were more regulated to punishment in my stepmom's garden where I would pretend to dead-head flowers and sneak a magazine in with them so I could read rather than work on my "green thumb."
- When I was in second grade, I nearly died from pneumonia. I was in the hospital for a month and about 24 hours after I was admitted, the doctor brought my parents in so they could "say goodbye" in case I didn't make it through the night.
- As a kid, the Great Muppet movie used to scare the crap out of me. When Animal got really big, I would always run and hide behind a large brown recliner that was in our living room. No matter how many times I would watch that movie - it always scared me. Even now, I can't watch scary movies without hiding behind my hands like a kid.
- When I read books, owned, borrowed or browsing, I always read the last page of the book first. That's what makes me decide if I want to go back and read the book from the beginning. One friend who used to lend me books would tear out the last page to keep me from doing it.
That wasn't too painful now was it? Now it's time to tag six lucky people.
I am so with you on the floors and bathrooms. I pretty much make my husband do both of those chores now!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to do this even though you didn't tag me, lol! I've never mowed the lawn either. That was my brother's job. I had "indoor" chores and he had the "outdoor" ones. As for kid movies that creep me out? I can't watch Jungle Book when the snakes eyes go all hypnotic. Scares me to death. I have to close my eyes even now.
ReplyDeletePicture of Bubbles is a must!
ReplyDeleteBubbles
Bubbles
Ack! I thought I had made it past all the Memes out there!
ReplyDelete*shakes fist at you*
;)
I love learning random facts about people. So fun! I also agree with harebrain- I want to see pictures of Bubbles!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't die. I get really uncomfortable when I have to clean floors and/or bathrooms...even if they're my own.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh i could NEVER read the last page of a book first - doesn't that ruin it for you? oh gosh, if the book even flips open to a random page i rush to close it for fear of catching a glimpse of a spoiler!
ReplyDeleteinteresting meme!
i'm so glad you didn't die! that's crazy. When i was in 4th grade my dad had to give me the Heimlich maneuver and I almost chocked.
ReplyDelete"I'm glad you didn't die."
ReplyDeleteBest comment ever.
Oh my gosh I can't believe you read the last page first!!
ReplyDeleteI can handle floors and bathrooms, what I can't deal with is emptying the dishwasher. It was always "my" chore when I was a kid, so now I can't STAND It.
ReplyDeleteOh and get ready to have your mind. blown. I have a paper mache cat that I made in first grade. That looks like a sorta creepy rabbit. Except it lives at my parents' house so my knitting group doesn't have to know about it.
I always read the last page too! I can't believe your friend rips them out.
ReplyDeleteAnd how scary about the pneumonia :( I'm glad you seem to have recovered fully.
I, too, have never mowed a lawn. I like to think that my dad didn't want me to have to do that chore, but I think it had to do more with the fact that he didn't want me to hurt myself. Yes, I was slightly clumsy...and, I suppose, I still am!
ReplyDeleteYou almost died! That's the saddest thing, I'm so glad you got through that, my goodness...very cute meme, I'm excited to see everyone else's quirks!
ReplyDeleteOne of my quirks is that I have an 8" Japanese koi tattoo on my back that maybe only 5 people have seen - next year I want to get two more koi to keep the first one company.
You read the last page first? I can't believe you do that!
ReplyDeleteomg. you read the last page of the book! why you would want to ruin it? That is too funny.
ReplyDeletei almost died when i was 7 (i have a ginormous scar across my stomach to prove it!). i had cysts growing around my appendix and it was on the verge of bursting. if it had burst, i would have died, no doubt. so when i was admitted to the children's hospital, it was very touch and go for that entire evening/early morning.
ReplyDeletei have found that the last page of a book tends to suck, and doesn't ever fully encompass what the book is all about. so to me, that just wouldn't work. ;-)
I used to read the back page of books first and always regretted it. Yet continued to do it.
ReplyDeletei hate cleaning bathrooms too, eck. too bad i have to do it now, oy vey. and i've never mowed a lawn either, and hopefully i won't have to, haha.
ReplyDeleteI am still scared of the muppets. I never liked them and something about puppets freaks me out.
ReplyDeleteI do the exact same thing when I get new books. But mostly because I like knowing how it ends before even beginning the book.
ReplyDeleteI read the last page first too. But I do it for the same reason as Harry in When Harry Met Sally...just in case I die before I finish.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes read the last page first too! But I always read a magazine from back to front.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you almost died!
Well, since you didn't die, that makes you, like, invincible, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteThe first time I ever mowed a lawn in my life was about a week after my husband left for Iraq. My grass is awful right now, but they can sue me. My hubby's gone and I've been doing it for the past three months... It's no longer convenient to fit it in between work, school and other necessities. :/ I'll get to it, eventually... But it definitely reinforces my desire to have a condo and no lawn to deal with!!
Oh, I wanna see Bubbles too. ;P
LOL, too funny.....I read the last few pages (sometimes the last chaper) of a book too! It drives everyone crazy that I do that. I've never mowed the grass either, my brother had the outside jobs and I had the insdie ones like dishes and dusting. I'll do the tag in the next day or two.
ReplyDeleteOooh, another tag! So much fun!!
ReplyDeleteI saw Bubbles in your following post--too cute!! And that's so sad about what happened in 2nd grade. I can't imagine what that must've been like for your parents. =( But that is too funny about your "last page of the book" quirk! Talk about a spoiler!
I'm glad you didn't die. Who the heck would I have to make fun of?
ReplyDeleteAnd you tagged me? Dang it. You like to torture me, don't you?
Dude, I love Bubbles. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow about your sickness at age 8! Holy crap. So glad you pulled through, Jess.
And I've never mowed the lawn either. That's why God made dads, brothers, and boyfriends! :)
