I love that sweet liquor nectar of the gods, but I am not the best when I consume it in mass quantities. After I've had a few drinks, I end up hugging everyone (more than when I'm sober), giving kisses on the cheek and telling anyone and everyone that I love them.
Also, everyone gets a new nickname, "honey." For example, "honey you look hot in that top" or "honey could you get me another beer? Mama J needs her juice."
It's embarrassing. Oh, I also tend to talk/laugh loudly and say very inappropriate things. Oops.
But, as I mentioned, Saturday I day drank with some of my good friends at a party, appropriately titled, "In the Garden of Good and Evil."
And what was one of the evils afflicted on me? Raspberry vodka punch, that was more vodka than raspberry but gave you a solid punch in the face.
After I had glass number four of said punch, there was lots of laughing and giggling from me at sexual innuendo comments. If I had a nickel for every time I said "that's what she said," I could pay off my student loan. How old am I again?
Anyhow, because family and co-workers read this blog, I cannot divulge everything that went on but let's just say this. I made a new friend that's pink and shakes.
And the result of my weekend day drinking adventure, plus dinner at Hot Chocolate on Friday night, I desperately needed to go work out. It burns so good/bad. Nothing says "hot" like sweating vodka.
Finally in closing, I had to post this picture of a burger I enjoyed last week on my day off. Sarah and I met up at Kuma's Corner, which has been voted "Chicago's best burger" several times. Good lord I could have used one of these burgers yesterday. Cheddar, bacon and fried egg, oh boy!
So those were my weekend adventures, how was everyone else's weekend?
And feel free to share if you are also do not handle liquor well. I'm sure I can't be the ONLY one :)

umm that burger is massive and looks freakin delicious. and yay for day drinking! i expect to see more of that this weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteoh how i love day drinking. it's been too long...perhaps my first event after taking the bar will be a day party. i'll call it "you just took the bar - now go to the bar". i like it.
ReplyDeletethat burger looks insanely delicious! it's making my stomach growl.
ReplyDeleteand I get exactly the same way when I've had a bit too much to drink as well. I end up loving EVERYONE.
Day drinking messes me up! I am just like you when it comes to drinking it sounds, because I'm super friendly and make jokes A LOT.
ReplyDeleteits pink and it vibrates... NICE
ReplyDeletei didn't use to be able to handle alchohol --1 drink and i was 3 sheets... ok maybe not one, but 3...
then i got to where it didn't matter how much i drank it didn't phase me.
now, i just don't drink much and when i do i gotta drink hard and fast in order to feel anything from it.
my most memorable drunken embarassment was walking around to every super tall guy at the party asking "are you my husband?"... he was passed out in a corner curled up in a ball... man, we didn't drink so well together! and he'd only had 5 beers, i had a whole fifth of jack to myself...
that burger looks NAUGHTY. I want!
ReplyDeleteI sooo would love to be there and being hugged and kissed by you!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou could be the cutest gal on the block when consumed alcohol - I would love for you to make some time for me when I visit Chicago!!! xoxo
I end up doing similar things when I've been drinking and we would have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThat burger, it sort of turns my stomach. Wow thats a lot of meat.
I'm weird when it comes to how I handle alcohol. Sometimes I can drink you under the table, and other times I'm out after a couple of drinks. I was wasted on a bottle of wine at our anniversary dinner. WASTED.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to have a fruity drink with you this weekend!
Thanks for stopping by=)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of day drinking as I'm usually ready for bed by 9! =)
Kuma's makes the most AMAZING burgers. I just made the Kuma burgers and also made the Melvin (with mozzarella, fresh basil, tomato, onion and prosciutto) for Memorial day weekend. I actually found a place that sells the pretzel rolls that they use. Needless to say they were a HUGE hit.
ReplyDeleteI also suck when it comes to drinking. On the brightside I'm so cheap at a bar.
Wow...that doesn't sound right.
That burger looks absolutely INCREDIBLE!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I cannot hold liquor well. I blame it on the fact that I didn't drink until I was 21. I haven't been able to catch up. But I'm a fun drunk, which is a plus. Even if I am a cheap, cheap date...
Day drinking can be so dangerous but, oh, my, it can be so fun!
ReplyDeleteI was at a family wedding where I participated in loads of day drinking. Glad to be back in Chicago, though!
day drinking is the best thing ever. i too, get giggly and huggy. only i tend to drink at inappropriate times - like sunday night for instance. today has been more than rough and i'll probably go to bed in a bit here :)
ReplyDeleteThat burger looks soooo good. I really need to try Kuma's Corner sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteI love day drinking. Well, I used to. There's something so wrong, yet so right about drinking in the daylight. But right now I'm still in my "I never want to drink again" phase after my hangover yesterday. It will pass soon enough and then I'll be good as new and craving Pink Panty Droppers again (eek!)
Today is my best friend's 21st bday. We started last night. I'm at work and still drunk. I don't handle liquor well and I need that burger. Now. Please. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI really hope it's not a growth spurt for me! I'm already 6'1!! My weekend... great! And the burger looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I saw pictures of said party floating around the internets yesterday. Perfect day for a garden party, no?! I took advantage of the great weather by going for a long run on Saturday, dinner out with friends on Saturday night, a long bike ride on Sunday morning and an afternoon spent with Sweets' family Sunday afternoon (including a long walk at the dog park)!
ReplyDeleteThat burger looks amazing - next time I'm in Chicago I have to make it to Kumas!
ReplyDeleteI love day drinking though - it's perfect for summertime!
My best friend always tell me that she loves me when she is drunk. I tease her about it all the time. Now, when she's drunk and she tells me that she loves me and I say "uh, huh" she gets mad and has to try to convince me that she's not drunk and she does in fact love me. I know she loves me, but still, she's usually drunk when she says it :)
ReplyDeleteMy work during the week is okay with us drinking hard liquior during the day! I still think this is not a good idea, but I did go along with people and had a few margaritas at lunch one day and couldn't concentrate, everything was mumbled coming forth my lips and i was falling asleep. Hopefully you never have to work for a company that encourages work day drinking.
ReplyDeleteI'm a good drinker, but not a great day drinker. I get really tired if I don't keep up the flow of the booze.
ReplyDeleteThe key to day drinking is a mid-afternoon pool-side nap.
ReplyDeleteday drinking is one of my specialties. no joke.
ReplyDeletealso ever since jamie (i think it was her) blogged about hot chocolate it's somewhere i'm dying to check out next time i'm in chicago.
The burger looks good, especially after all the drinks lol. I've never tried raspberry vodka, I clearly miss out.
ReplyDeleteMan, I miss you. Here's to being punched in the face by alcohol!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing quite as fun as getting trashed on crack juice (vodka + fruit Juicy or strawberry soda) when the sun is still shining... glad you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteits look yummy day drinking is some time its effect badly on our work.
