Francesca and the ladies at Three Bay B Chicks invited me to participate in the Chick Chat vlog series on the topic of "Life as a Twenty Something."
So below is my first-ever vlog. And cut me some slack in the comments please because it is my first one and I went through 14 takes to finally get to this video. Oh and yes, that is the sound of my kitchen timer softly in the background because I kept going over time and needed it to keep me on track. I'm a total nerd.
Oh and I put a little note at the end (if you can hang with me for three minutes) with a little blog announcement. Nothing big but definitely exciting.
And thus, I close my first vlog entry. Again, be nice in the comments everyone, it was filmed on my iSight camera in my lovely living room. You can tell it's an apartment because of the yellow walls...that was not my decorating decision.
So the question for tonight is, what do you like best about your life as a twenty something or what did you really like about your 20s?

Note: I also just wanted to thank everyone for the great tweets, e-mails and comments on my recent dating adventures. I really appreciate it, you guys are helping me stay back out there!
woo hoo congrats on your first vlog! you did a great job.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what changes are in store!
You did a great job with your video blog! Now I'm all curious to see what changes are coming up!
ReplyDeleteawwww jess!!! you look great, did an amazing job and summed up your blog perfectly.
ReplyDeleteA++++
can wait to see the new design too!
Great job! I love getting to hear people voices and see their happy faces :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first blog!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about being a 20-something is the experience. There are so many things that I haven't done, or done right or wrong. Something new is always popping up and I'm faced with different opportunities all the time. I love soaking it all in!

ReplyDeleteIt was brought up in the 20sb forum about moving somewhere completely different in your 20's. It's a great time to do that.
ReplyDeleteChicago greatly caters to the 20-somethings, and it's great that the community and peoples blogs can show us all that we're all thinking about jobs, careers, locations and dating like you said!
I think you did a great job! It will get easier the more you do it! Will this be a regular feature?
ReplyDeleteHm. Favorite part about my 20s...well, since things aren't going as swimmingly as they once did I will just stick with being a homeowner. I am on my second home and I love the experence. I love being able to decorate my walls with any paint color I choose and putting holes where I want. Its fun!
good vlog!
ReplyDeletefav part of my twenties? hmm... I would def say college and just living on my own! I've def grown as a person and really love who I'm becoming and look forward to the future as well as just enjoying what's going on in my life now :)
You did an awesome job with your first vlog. I tried once( with so many takes it was ridiculous) but gave up and think I will be sticking with the written word. =)
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I love that you tweeted about your neighbors fire (hey, the fire dept should be on twitter!) and LOVE your award show recaps.
Cant wait to see whats ahead for the blog!
haha you're great lady. looove the vlog :)
ReplyDeletenot so much the yellow walls but i guess i can't blame you for that.
I love it! Great job!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about my twenties is that they are almost over. Haha. I kid.
What I've loved is being able to see how much I've grown as a person throughout the years and becoming more confident in trusting my gut and doing what I want to do :)
Can't wait to see the new fun stuff!
yay vlog! I do adore those. And I am in LOVE with your Chanel poster.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I really love everything about my 20's so far (they are almost over). I've graduated from college and graduate school, been a teacher, gotten married, moved to a new state, had a baby, moved back to my home state, made tons of new friends.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about your blog is living through you! I've been married since I was 22 and have had a very different 20's experience. It's fun to live your life through your blog. You always make me laugh!
I think you did a very good job on your vlog. Kudos to you! Oh and don't worry my life isn't very exciting to where I could walk into a tiger in my bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed. Ok, so technically I can't watch the video b/c I'm at work and have no sound and I can't read lips, but it looks like you made a video and posted it which is wayyy more than I could ever do.
ReplyDeleteAlso-fave thing about being in my 20s... geez, I love it all. Probably being grown up enough to have fun, but not being grown up enough to have to be responsible (that comes in the 30s with marriage and kids)
Great vlog! You look so pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteNow I'm really curious to see what the design changes are going to entail...
Hooray for your first vlog, Jessica. It was great to see you on camera. Weird and stupid stuff happens to me a lot too. Isn't that what blogging is for?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
-Francesca
I couldn't take my eyes off your Chanel poster!
ReplyDeleteLove the vlog! I know how nerve-wracking those can be, (do I really sound like that??) but you did great!
ReplyDeleteI've only discovered this recently, but the best thing about being a 20something is the freedom. I'm nearing the end of my 20s. I've watched some of my friends get married really early and they're already tied down with divorces, kids, etc. Now they are trying to do all the wild and crazy stuff the rest of us did at 22.
I've had a blast in this stage of my life. I'd be willing to say there's more change between 20 and 30 than there is between 10 and 20. Thoughts?
Congrats! I probably should have done 14 takes, but I was so exhausted after my first one I just went with that! ;-)
ReplyDeleteyay on your first vlog! let's see...my favorite thing about being in my 20's? The freedom to go as I please & do what I please.
ReplyDeleteand your chanel poster? WANT.
hey jessica,
ReplyDeletei'm here from 3 bay b
you did a great job with your vlog...
and i look forward to learning more about you...i'm totally following your blog! :)
I can't watch vlogs at work :(
ReplyDeleteCongrats on doing your first vlog, I haven't quite made it that far...it's still pretty intimidating.
ReplyDeleteWith the amount of bloggers I follow who live in Chicago I'm still amazed I've never been there. Maybe I'll put that as the #1 stop coming up.
Tweet instead call the fire dudes! That's as naughty as Perez Hilton tweeting instead of calling the police when he ran into BEP.
ReplyDeleteLove your vlog, it's a great first attempt. Love the twentysomethings blogs too, reminds me that we're not alone :o)
I hate vlogging. It's impossible to just do a one-taker without picking yourself to pieces. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Chick Chatting. I want to visit Chicago... you're so lucky to live there :)
ReplyDeleteA new design!? YAY!!!! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI think the thing I liked best about my 20's was figuring out that I CAN do it all on my own. No parents. No spouse. It was all about me and I enjoyed that time. And now that I'm well into my 30's, I can say that I'm so pleased to be sharing my life with my special someone!
I love how it's so dynamic, although not a fan of emotional rollercoaster :)
ReplyDeleteps. you look great!:)
Planning to watch the vlog with volume when I get home!
ReplyDeleteI loved that I moved to Chicago in my 20s. I saw so much, met so many different people, ate so much different food, had so many different work experiences and really learned who I was and what I wanted from my life.
I give your first vlog, 2 thumbs up! Great job!
ReplyDeleteyay for vlogs! you're quite awesome jessica, just so you know.
ReplyDeletegreat vlog--you're a natural!
ReplyDeletei've loved reading your blog since the first day i stumbled upon it and it just gets better every day!!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what's in store!
ps, i'll let you do a vlog for me so i don't have to :) your so good at it!!
You summed up the 20SB experience so eloquently and it makes us totally sound like a refined bunch instead of the hooligans we really are!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job and I love putting voices with faces! I love reading your blog, you always have funny things to say and great discussions.
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I miss my twenties much. I did have a lot of fun times but I would have to say that my thirties have been so much more fufulling to me. I feel like I was still trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted to do in my twenties. Now I'm a wife and a mom and I love my life. It keeps getting better every year!
you are absolutely adorable! i wish we lived closer so we could hang out. i would love to be shown around chicago by you.
ReplyDeletegreat vlog and i'm really excited for all the changes you're forecasting!
Love the vlog! It's great to see you again, lady! = )
ReplyDeleteAnd can I just say? You're SUCH a tease!!! But I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!
Ah! I loved hearing your voice again! Can't wait to see you in a few short weeks - you are such an amazing part of the awesome things in my life right now!
ReplyDelete~ D
I am so chicken about vlogging. I hate the sound of my own voice.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how the design work turns out! And can't wait to see you in a few weeks! Whee!
WOW you did a GREAT job!!! It's a really great introduction to your blog too!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yay! I was SOOO excited to see your vlog, I couldn't wait to get to a computer to watch it and I was not disappointed. You are totally adorable and you have such a wonderful speaking voice. Seriously! Yay!
ReplyDeleteYay! Your vlog just made me so happy. I agree with you -- the 20something community online is absolutely amazing. And I feel blessed to be a part of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to all the fabulous changes in the near future! Keep us updated!
