My introduction to tongue action

Mind out of the gutter. The 20sb January blog carnival topic is first kisses and I would love to share with everyone the story about the first time a man's lips collided with mine.

I was a late bloomer in high school and my senior year was like the pinnacle in my high school career. I wasn't as awkward around people, started dressing in more flattering clothes, got contacts and embraced my big boobs.

Despite these changes, I was also a huge debate geek and participated in competitions on weekends in spring. And my senior year debate season was the best year, partially because it introduced me to my first kiss, Ben.

Ben was a year younger than me and loved tweed jackets with elbow patches. He was my high school dream boy. He had glasses and Blagojevich-like hair and he thought I was "intriguing." On our Valentine's Day weekend debate, we shared nachos and hot dogs during a competition break and he casually asked if I had a boyfriend. When I said no, he quickly responded, "oh yeah me either, I don't have a girlfriend." This was followed by five minutes of awkward silence and bashful glances.

A week later, we went out on our first actual date (and my official first date with a guy) and saw a movie, chastely holding hands  at the theater. When he drove me home, he was a gentleman and walked me to the door, giggling with me and holding my hand. But because this was my first real date, I had no idea how it was supposed to end. Hug? Kiss? Was I that kind of girl?

Like a lady, I said thank you for the movie and went in for a hug (because he wasn't leading) and he swooped in like an eagle going for the fish and kissed me right on the lips. Shocked for a moment, the first thought in my head was...that's it? That's what a kiss with a guy is? Fast and quick and a total surprise? Confused, I leaned in for another one, which he again used as a chance to peck at me like a bird, but this time he lingered on me to jam his tongue in there. But before that could happen, I pulled away, thanking him again and going inside.

I watched him drive away and felt this rush of...nervous excitement. A good guy liked me and kissed me and thought I was interesting and special. And I ran as fast as I could to my room to scream in excitement in my pillow, kicking my legs like an Olympic swimmer.

So the first kiss wasn't bad, but I always panic a little when guys swoop in for it. Ease in there, I'm not a fish that's going to get away.

How was everyone else's first kiss? Do you remember it as vividly? Was your first kiss any better or worse?

  2. That story is cute! As with the bulk of the men I've kissed in my life, I was wasted when my first happened. I'm pretty sure it was the first time I was really drunk, too. Oh to be 16 again.

  3. Always beware of the swoopers.

My first kiss was in 7th grade, after school walking on the way home from school he was in the 8th grade. I was incredibly nervous.

  5. My first kiss was with a drunk boy up against a tree some time in 10th grade lol

It's definitely not as vivid or dreamy. But it was *crazy* exciting!

  6. Mine was at smart kid camp at Northwestern the summer after seventh grade, with this nerdy boy who was shorter than me but thought he was soooo cool. It was an awkward little peck. He later told my friend he was just in it for the benefits. I was 12--WHAT BENEFITS? Ew. I didn't kiss another boy until after high school graduation.

  7. I can totally picture the swoop and the unexpected peck and tongue jab. Awkward!

I was one of those girls that chased the boys around the playground in elementary school in order to kiss them. So, no, I don't remember my first kiss. I don't even remember my first kiss with tongue action. What I DO remember is the first time my now-husband kissed me. That was over 10 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. He certainly didn't kiss like an inexperienced nerd! No siree.

  8. Mine was sophomore year of High School. It was in the orchestra room right before a comedy show I was in.

It was with a girl I was kinda seeing at the time. And she initiated. And it was pretty good actually.

    I was kinda a puss.

  13. Haha this was hilarious. You captured the awkwardness that comes with experiencing a boys tongue in your mouth for the first time.

  16. I was 16, at a party, it coincided with the first time I got drunk, and there was a lot of tongue involved. Oh, and I got a free beer off the guy I kissed - result!

  18. I'm sure I'm supposed to focus on the kissing bit but I'm too excited to find another debate geek. I competed on my hs speech and debate team too (but in humorous interpretation, not debate) and our Valentine's day tourney was always the toughest one of the year!

  19. Yours wasn't that bad, kind of nice actually. Well, I guess I was a bit on the risky side and got my first kiss in seventh grade. It was horrible. He had these huge lips that swallowed my thin little guys. Then he pretty much spit in my mouth and called it a day.

For some reason, by the time I graduated high school most of my friends had kissed this guy as well. He was still that bad after all those years of practice. Hope he has improved by now!

  20. my first kiss was in kindergarten. it was nap time and his name was dusty. it was innocent and sweet and fell asleep after the quick peck on the lips together holding hands. he was my "first boyfriend"

my 1st real kiss with tongue action was at the bowling alley and i don' remember his name... that's horrible of me!

  25. I kissed a girl, then told her she smelled like cookies.

We didn't get along for a very long time after that.

  26. Mine was very similar - I remember him jamming his tongue in my mouth and I was just like what the hell is going on.

  27. Where's this carnival of which you speak located on the website?

I was a late-bloomer, too. I waited until I was 19 to do a lot of stuff. I was so nervous and stuff that I had to be drunk. It was way worse that yours. It's really embarrassing!

  28. My first kiss was well...slobbery, with the man slobbering on me, and having to secretly take my shirt sleeve and wipe it off. gross. So do you know whatever happened to Ben?

  29. I love reading about everyone's first kisses and am surprised that I wasn't the only late bloomer. (I had mine at 19.)

Mine? Not so good. I remember thinking, 'If this is the way kissing is, I just don't like it.' That being said, the guy was forcing his tongue down my throat and slobbering. Eh. When I tried kissing two years later, it was a lot better. ;)
