Key Learnings and thank god for weekends

Last week was absolutely crazy and because it was my first week back from vacation, let's just say getting back in the groove was tougher than I imagined.

But it's Sunday now and we have about seven inches of snow on the ground so while I'm watching the Golden Globes, let's recap with some key learnings.

Key Learnings:
  • Beer makes any bad day better. And two beers make any bad day not exist anymore
  • Hearing your neighbor have loud sex can be a distraction while reading
  • People who don't shovel their sidewalk should be kicked in the nuts
  • Walking through a snowstorm can be soothing and exhausting when you finally stop
  • There is no ladylike way to stop yourself from falling in the snow
  • Snowblowing and setting off a car alarm outside my bedroom window at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings makes you a d-bag
  • Putting away holiday decorations is not as much fun as putting them up
  • Wearing a T-shirt that says "I love hot moms" in your dating profile automatically eliminates you. Also guys who say they like "easy women" will also get you eliminated
  • Sometimes, Saturday night dance parties in your apartment are necessary
  • Gelato in a snowstorm is always a good idea
  • Replaying old mix CDs is a great way to relive awkward and poignant times as a teenager
  • Men who leer at women at the gym with their mouths open are creepy

More f*cking snow
I love snow, hi, I've lived in the Midwest my entire life. But after being pounded with snow in Wisconsin over Christmas, I was ready for a dry remainder of winter. WRONG. Friday night we got more snow, around six to seven inches. And while it was light and pretty and actually kind of fun to walk in, here are some pictures of what it's left behind. Oh yeah and the rumor is we're getting more snow Monday night. Woo!

Thursday post clarification:
Finally, I did forget to include in Thursday's post what I said to my stepbrother about his girlfriend. After reflecting on my more inappropriate comments, I told him that if she made him happy, then I was happy for him. And to clarify, the things I said in Thursday's post, I didn't say those things to him, it was a list of comments I've said to other friends, etc. over the years.

How was everyone else's weekend?

I love dance parties... even if they are solo ones.

Im so tired of snow and I absolutely agree with you on the beer making bad days better.

In New York, we didn't get nearly as much snow, but I still enjoyed the storm and walking through it. It's kind of nice to clear your head when no one else is brave enough to stroll around.

And I can't believe guys actually do stuff like that on their dating profiles... like seriously? Ugh what is wrong with people these days.

"There is no ladylike way to stop yourself from falling in the snow"

How true is that?!

Dance parties are SO fun. I had one this past week in my apartment.

I love the snow pictures!

And I haaaate it when people stare at me at the gym. OMG, I know I'm fat... that's why I'm at the gym!

PLEASE send some of that snow our way!

Ahh when will this snow be GONE!?

You don't want to date someone looking for an easy woman? You are going to eliminate a lot of great DUDES.

Congrats on the nom!

Gelato! Yummm :) And you're right, lady like tumbles are virtually impossible.

Okay, I know you and everyone else in the Midwest hate the snow after a while. But I wish so very much that we would get some. The first picture just make me so so jealous. The second one not so much.

Um, eww on the last key learning. Just ew.

We didn't get snow, but we got freezing temperatures, and about everyone able to ice-skate (i.e. not me) was out on the ice this weekend. It's fun to see, but I detest skating myself. Too slippery.

Ugh, I was only home (NJ) for 3 weeks but we managed to get a lot of snow, and I was so glad to not be there because we got more snow/ice in the last week.

Mixed cd's are the best, because listening to them always brings back the memories from that time or roadtrip!

Totally voted for you. (Don't tell D.)

I love you. Seriously, this is too funny. We should definitely be real life friends. I'll be in Chicago for several weeks this spring. Lets guzzle some beers.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only blogger who is struggling with the snow & offsetting its effects with beer consumption!

If another person twitters about how it's 80 degrees where they are I was going to snap.

see, that's why i can't live downtown/in the city. i like my private parking. i love the fact that no one is parked on the street and there is no chance that a snow plow is going to burry my car.

and its so much quieter in the suburbs.

i would be the obnoxious neighbor you can hear having sex --dear lord i hope they can't hear us! and its not like you can knock on the door and ask "um, hate to bother you, but um--you didn't hear us last night did you? i know i got kinda loud--it was REALLY good--and wanted to appologize just in case..." yea- NO! lol

alchohol has lost its affect on me. but i dreamed last night that i chain smoked a carton of cigs and i havn't smoked in 6 months... strangeness.

ps, can you tell i'm bored? hours got cut at work. Monday is my day off. Friday I was sick. I'm going stirr crazy. And its not like I can go for a walk easily... damn snow and cold.

that kind of massive snowfall is the reason that always snaps me back to reality whenever I consider the thought of moving to chicago.

i voted for you and good luck!

Ok, forget the gym. Men who leer at women with their mouths open anywhere are creepy. I'm sick of this snow. I'm over it.

I'm seriously jealous of the Saturday night dance party in your apartment.

People who don't shovel their sidewalk WILL be sued when someone falls as it is Chicago law (or policy or something) that home-owners, landlords and/or tenants shovel their walkways.

Also, it would be dreamy if I could sleep past 8AM on the weekends ...

Do guys actually put "I like Easy Women" in their profiles?! Insanity

Katelin said...

i totally agree that dance parties are amazing and putting away decorations are not really cool at all. ugh.

What's really a distraction? Hearing your college roommate having sex in the middle of the night.

RE: holiday decorations. That's why mine are still up!

I love your list. And you can keep the snow. I live in NJ and fortunately, we usually only get a little bit of snow and rarely get a lot. And hoo-ray for that!

I did not go anywhere this weekend...well at least not on saturday. So done with the snow.

I've been listening to some old CD mixes lately .. it's oddly comforting in addition to being a good way to relive old times.
